Hi friends! So I am really into the idea of doing a podcast and I wanted y’all’s opinion on what are some topics that you would like to hear. Also, if you have been here for a while, you know that I have a speech impediment and podcasts are listening to someone speak. I have never let my disability hold be back before, so why start now?
Growing up, I HATED those machines that speak for you because I have so much more to say than what they have come up with and the voice is weird and robotic. I have always preferred to speak for myself, but I had to realize that it is difficult to understand me if you don’t know my voice and having someone else speak for me (like a friend or my parents) doesn’t appeal to me. When I say this, I mean when I give a presentation in class or, you know, a podcast. If it’s a casual conversation or something like that, I don’t mind if it’s necessary. Anyway, I have been thinking about how I can do a podcast with my voice and I even asked for some suggestions in my last post. One idea seemed to be the most reasonable: I could do a small 30 second intro with every episode with myself speaking then have a guest repeat it and they can read my script. Let’s go into detail about that, shall we?
The idea is that each episode, I would pick a topic and choose someone who is either interested in that topic or who I think would be good for that particular day and have then speak. It would be all my words and thoughts, but with another person on the mic. This way, I could have special guests and experts (hopefully) on my podcast and it can be really fun!
I am still unsure about somebody else speaking my words, but I have to be able to have my words heard. It’s like an audio book where it’s not the author that reads the book but someone else. I am trying to think of it that way.
If anyone has any other ideas of how I could do this, please let me know. Also, what are some topics y’all would like to listen to?
Love you guys!
PS: If anyone knows podcast software or how to do a podcast in general, please feel free to put it in the comments!
A quality microphone, a mixer board to adjust audio if there’s more than one speaker. You would need to edit the audio, there’s free software called Audacity… Do you have a PC or MAC? Because garage band on MAC can work. Once you’ve recorded it, created the MP3 and getting it ready to distribute, that’s where you would have to find the platform to upload it to. Hope this helps Rosie.
Thank you so much!! I have a Mac and I used Garage Band before. I’ve also used Audacity too.
